Purchasing a home and moving in is exciting, but it is also a busy time. If you want to make your time spent in your new home as enjoyable, functional, and cost-efficient as possible, it is a good idea to take a moment to focus on the plumbing system. Learn about some of the areas you should focus your attention on.
1. Plumbing Inspection
When you purchased the home, your lender likely required you to have a home inspection performed. Although the assessment may have come back clear, it is important to understand that these inspections are often surface level. To ensure you can plan, you should hire a plumber to perform a detailed inspection. A plumber can often catch minor issues that you may have missed and provide you with helpful recommendations on upgrades you should consider making.
2. Color-Coordinated Fixtures
If you purchased an older home, there is a good chance that the fixtures in the bathrooms and kitchen do not match or may be outdated. If you want to give your home a quick and easy makeover, invest in color-coordinated fixtures. For example, you could replace older brushed nickel fixtures in the bathroom with flat black fixtures. A plumber can often perform this upgrade relatively easily and let you know which fixtures will be the most cost-effective.
3. Water Filtration System
If the home you move into is in an area with water quality concerns, it is a good idea to have a whole-home water filtration system installed as soon as you move in. A whole-home system will not just ensure that your family has better-tasting water, but it can also protect the surfaces in your home, as hard water can sometimes cause staining in sinks and tubs. A plumber can help you select a system based on the size of the home.
4. Smart Fixtures
To keep your water usage costs as manageable as possible, it is a good idea to have a plumber install smart fixtures in your home. For example, there are smart leak-detection systems that constantly monitor the water pressure in your pipes. The system uses these readings to detect leaks, and in the event that a leak is detected, it sends you a notification. These systems are critical for not only catching a water leak before it becomes costly but also helping you avoid extensive water damage.
If you need to make these or any other updates, do not hesitate to contact a plumbing professional who will be more than happy to assist you with the process.Share

Hi everyone, my name is Linda Strickerts. I am going to talk about plumbing pipes problems, repairs and upgrades on this site. Although the pipes hide beneath the floors and behind the walls, they are an integral part of the home. Without plumbing pipes, we would still be heading out to the outhouse to do our business. Washing clothes, dishes and ourselves would also not be possible without carrying buckets of water in and out of the home. I hope to explore the different ways plumbing pipes changed our lives for the better. I will talk about keeping the pipes in great shape as well. Thanks.
